Week 8 of the NFL season was one of the quieter weeks so far, with only one close game (Bengals-Jets) and several blowouts across the slate. As the midpoint of the 2025 season approaches, here is how the league stacks up heading into Week 9.
32. Tennessee Titans (1-7)
Weekly Change: Neutral
More of the same for Tennessee this week. Blowout losses have become the norm for this team. The Titans and their fans must be wishing for a “simulate to end” option to escape this miserable season.
31. New York Jets (1-7)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Behind an electric performance from Breece Hall, the Jets finally snagged their first win of the season. They are not going anywhere, but it was good to see them finally get a win.
30. Las Vegas Raiders (2-5)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Las Vegas was on bye this week. The Raiders look to get back on track this week against the Jaguars.
29. New Orleans Saints (1-7)
Weekly Change: Neutral
This week was a disaster for New Orleans. A 23-3 loss looks better on paper than it did on the field. The Saints are struggling after a few competitive weeks earlier in the year. Rookie QB Tyler Shough may be the spark they need.
28. New York Giants (2-6)
Weekly Change: Down 3
A rough week for the Giants. On top of a blowout loss to the Eagles, running back Cam Skattebo suffered a season-ending injury. There is not much hope left for New York this year.
27. Miami Dolphins (2-6)
Weekly Change: Up 1
Miami picked up a surprising win in dominant fashion over the Falcons. This team still has plenty of issues and will struggle to find wins, but it was nice to see them play hard and get a needed victory.
26. Cleveland Browns (2-6)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Cleveland’s offense is simply not good enough. The defense tried its best against New England, but even Myles Garrett’s five sacks were not enough to keep it close.
25. Cincinnati Bengals (3-5)
Weekly Change: Up 2
Despite the loss, Cincinnati moves up two spots. The offense is clicking with Joe Flacco, but just like last year, the defense cannot support it consistently.
24. Carolina Panthers (4-4)
Weekly Change: Down 2
Carolina seems to either wins close or get blown out with nothing in between. A 40-9 loss to Buffalo is a disappointing result after a three-game win streak.
23. Arizona Cardinals (2-5)
Weekly Change: Up 1
Arizona was on bye this week. They hope to get Kyler Murray back for the matchup against Dallas.
22. Minnesota Vikings (3-4)
Weekly Change: Down 1
Minnesota’s season is unraveling. The quarterback play is subpar and the defense is not close to its 2024 form. Maybe J.J. McCarthy’s return will help, but it is hard to be optimistic based on what we’ve witnessed the past few weeks.
21. Chicago Bears (4-3)
Weekly Change: Down 5
The Bears followed two solid defensive outings with a complete dud. Losing to Tyler Huntley and the Ravens is tough, and the offense’s inconsistency continues to define their ceiling.
20. Atlanta Falcons (3-4)
Weekly Change: Down 5
Atlanta was embarrassed by a struggling Miami team. Even without Michael Penix Jr., they must be more competitive. The early-season momentum is gone.
19. Washington Commanders (3-5)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Washington lost to Kansas City in a game they were never expected to win. Still, if the wins do not start coming soon, this season could get ugly.
18. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Jacksonville was on bye. They will look to rebound against the Raiders this week.
17. Dallas Cowboys (3-4-1)
Weekly Change: Neutral
The Cowboys defense continues to put too much pressure on the offense to score 35 or more every week. Dak Prescott had no chance against Denver, especially with the defense giving up 44 points.
16. Baltimore Ravens (2-5)
Weekly Change: Up 7
Baltimore grabbed a much-needed win without Lamar Jackson, leaning on defense and tempo to beat Chicago. With Jackson expected back this week, the Ravens could rise quickly.
15. San Francisco 49ers (5-3)
Weekly Change: Down 2
San Francisco was barely competitive against Houston. This team should stabilize once Brock Purdy, Brandon Aiyuk, and Ricky Pearsall return.
14. Houston Texans (3-4)
Weekly Change: Up 6
Houston looked great in its win over the 49ers. C.J. Stroud had his best game of the season, the defense played well, and young receivers Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins showed promise. If this continues, Houston could be dangerous in the AFC.
13. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)
Weekly Change: Down 1
Pittsburgh was outmatched by a superior Green Bay team. The Steelers remain atop the AFC North for now, but their receiving corps continues to struggle and could become a major concern as the season wears on.
12. Los Angeles Chargers (5-3)
Weekly Change: Up 2
The Chargers looked back to form in their win over Minnesota. Justin Herbert remains firmly in the MVP conversation.
11. New England Patriots (6-2)
Weekly Change: Neutral
New England keeps taking care of business against weaker opponents. Let’s see how they fare against stronger competition before moving them into the top ten.
10. Seattle Seahawks (5-2)
Weekly Change: Down 1
Seattle was on bye. They look to build on their momentum this week against Washington.
9. Denver Broncos (6-2)
Weekly Change: Up 1
Denver picked up a solid win over Dallas and continues to prove it is a legitimate AFC contender.
8. Buffalo Bills (5-2)
Weekly Change: Down 1
Buffalo dominated Carolina from start to finish. The defense might have played its best game of the season, holding the Panthers to just nine points.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2)
Weekly Change: Down 3
Tampa Bay handled New Orleans with ease. They did not look as sharp as some of the other teams near the top, but they remain solidly inside the top ten.
6. Green Bay Packers (5-1-1)
Weekly Change: Up 2
Green Bay looked strong against Pittsburgh. Jordan Love delivered his best outing of the year, throwing for 360 yards and three touchdowns.
5. Philadelphia Eagles (6-2)
Weekly Change: Up 1
Saquon Barkley was dominant against the Giants. If he keeps this up, the rest of the NFC should be on alert.
4. Indianapolis Colts (7-1)
Weekly Change: Up 1
The Colts were unstoppable once again, routing the Titans. Eight weeks in, their offense leads the league at 33 points per game.
3. Los Angeles Rams (5-2)
Weekly Change: Neutral
The Rams were on bye. They face an easy matchup this week against New Orleans.
2. Detroit Lions (5-2)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Detroit also had the week off. An interesting divisional matchup with Minnesota awaits.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-3)
Weekly Change: Neutral
Kansas City started slow against Washington but took control after halftime in a 28-7 win. A massive showdown with Buffalo looms on Sunday.
