Rico Dowdle was the only one of our Week 6 waiver wire picks to truly deliver. The rest were hurt by a dysfunctional Rams offense, Denver’s struggles in London, and Calvin Ridley’s first-half hamstring injury.
That’s the way it goes with the waiver wire. It can be boom or bust, and there’s never any guarantee of success. That said, we’re back at it and hopeful the majority of our Week 7 picks post healthy returns this weekend.
Kendrick Bourne
We should have jumped on Kendrick Bourne last week. He had 142 yards in Week 5 and repeated that return in Week 6 on nine targets. Jauan Jennings is playing with five broken ribs. It’s unclear if Ricky Pearsall will return for Week 7.
Despite returning 24.20 points in Week 5, Bourne is still available in over 73% of NFL Fantasy leagues. He’s posted more than 43 points over the last two weeks and looks like a decent option in the RB/WR spot, even with the Niners facing the Falcons in Week 7.
Ja’Marr Chase, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Chris Olave are the only players with more targets over the last two weeks.
Van Jefferson
Van Jefferson had a season-high six targets and four receptions on Sunday. Ridley exited the game in the first half with a hamstring injury and it’s unlikely he will be good to go in Week 7, leaving plenty of targets up for grabs in the Titans’ offense.
Jefferson is currently WR136 and rostered in only 0.1% of leagues, thus he isn’t going to be worth putting a claim for in smaller leagues. There should be some interest in deeper leagues, though, as he’s got serious upside if he’s fully healthy in Week 7. Jefferson’s snap count should leap to above 65%.
Kayshon Boutte
Scoring two touchdowns and notching 93 receiving yards in Week 6, Kayshon Boutte has the potential to be a serious fantasy asset for the remainder of the season with how Drake Maye has been playing.
Currently ranked as the WR49, Boutte should easily finish as a top-25 receiver over the final 11 weeks. He’s rostered in just 1.7% of NFL Fantasy leagues and was started in only 0.2%, meaning very few managers got to enjoy his 26.3 points against the Saints.nts.
Just eight wide receivers have a better catch percentage than Boutte through the first six weeks of the season.
Trevor Lawrence
No quarterback has been pressured less often than Trevor Lawrence, and his bad throw rate is tied for the sixth lowest in the league. His receivers, however, have dropped 8.3% of his passes, and no other quarterback has dealt with more than 5.3%.
Jacksonville has a top 10 offensive line, and Lawrence should have plenty of time in the pocket even against a good Rams defense.
It is not the easiest matchup for the former number one pick, but as the QB18 and rostered in just 21% of leagues, he is a solid streaming option for managers missing Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen this week.
Panthers Defense
The Jets’ offense is pitiful, and that is the main reason for this pick. Carolina failed to record a sack or a takeaway against the Cowboys on Sunday and allowed 292 passing yards.
This comes down to how anemic the Jets’ offense has been. Justin Fields could barely move the ball down the field in London on Sunday.
The Panthers may not have an elite defense, but they are capable of keeping this Jets team in check. Their average turnover rate suggests they can force a takeaway or two.
